5th Annual Ice Ball a Success
The 5th Annual Ice Ball to benefit the Fund for Cape May was held at Cape May’s Congress Hall on February 9th and was a huge success, raising nearly $190,000 for the non-profit. The Ballroom and Grand Lawn at Congress Hall were transformed into an icy, magical world full of twinkling branches for this year’s event. Attendees enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails specially catered for a night fit for frosty royalty before turning up the heat and enjoying a night of dinner, dancing, and live music.
Hosted annually by Congress Hall, the Ice Ball raises private funds for public projects to support South Jersey’s Cape Island communities. The money raised during this year’s event will go toward the Fund for Cape May’s second project, which will expand the War Memorial at Columbia Avenue and Gurney Street into Soldiers and Sailors Park. Work is scheduled to begin in the fall and will hopefully be completed by spring of 2020. The Fund for Cape May was established in 2014 by Curtis Bashaw, co-owner and co-managing partner of Cape Resorts. Proceeds from the event in previous years went towards the restoration of Rotary Park.
